Homemade Guacamole Recipe

This recipe is for super fresh homemade Guacamole that is fast and delicious. The perfect appetizer before a meal or for game day.

I usually make two batches at a time, one for the kids that is not spicy and one batch that is extra spicy for the adults. The more jalapenos you add, the spicier it will be!

As you make the guacamole, don’t forget to taste test along the way to ensure that you have the perfect blend of flavors! A little more lime or cilantro to really kick up the flavor!

Ingredients for Guacamole:

4 ripe avocados
1 Large red tomato, diced
1 lime, squeezed
1 or 2 Jalapenos, diced (if you don’t want spicy, do not use)
1 – 2 Tablespoons Fresh cilantro, diced (I use about 6 or 7 leaves)
2 Tablespoons Red onion, diced
Salt and pepper to taste (about 1 Teaspoon of each)

Kitchen Utensils needed:

Paring knife
Cutting board
4 Small bowls to hold cut up ingredients
1 medium to large bowl to mix ingredients together in
Potato masher or fork (to mash the avocados)

Prepare the ingredients:

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Wash the tomato, jalapeno and cilantro
Slice the lime in half and put to the side
Dice tomatoes and place in one of the small bowls
Dice the red onion and place in the second small bowl
Gently dice the fresh cilantro (don’t forget to remove the stems) and place into your third bowl
Carefully dice up the jalapenos and place them in the fourth bowl
Wash your hands right away!
Slice the avocados down the middle and separate the two halves

Pull out the core, but don’t throw it away! We will use it again
Take a spoon and scrape all the avocado out of both halves into your big bowl
Repeat with the remaining three avocados
Take the potato masher or fork and gently mash the avocados until only a few small chunks remain

Make the Guacamole:

Preparation time: 5 minutes

In the bowl that has the mashed avocado, add the tomatoes
Gently mix them together
Add the red onions and jalapenos
Gently mix together
Squeeze the limes over top of the mixture
Add the salt and pepper and cilantro
Mix gently
Take one of the cores from the avocado that is the cleanest and place it in the middle of the guacamole (this helps the guacamole from browning while it is in the fridge)
Cover the guacamole and place in the fridge to chill for an hour or so

Important notes for you:

The ingredients above make the perfect combination of fresh flavors, but if you don’t like red onions or jalapenos, don’t hesitate to take them out. You can even swap the red onions for yellow or white onions.

If you like your guacamole chunkier, don’t mash as much!

If you like your guacamole smooth, pour the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. I like a little chunky guacamole so I wrote the recipe this way

You are welcome to eat the guacamole as soon as you make it, but if you let it chill for an hour or so, the ingredients will blend together more. Your choice!
